U of I Alumni Association request/opportunity from Bill Forsyth ’86

Bill Forsyth ’86 who serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Illinois Alumni Association asked me to share the following.

Dane

—————————————————————–

All-

I have a favor to ask. Last year, the UI Alumni Association launched a program – Illinois Alumni Insiders – that helped us better connect and engage with young alumni. Participants had the opportunity to provide feedback about existing and proposed UI Alumni Association programs and services; offer insights into what young alumni are seeking from their alumni association; and test the marketing of messages, images and campaigns. All communication was facilitated via an online platform that was concise, targeted, and provided real-time analytics. We received very valuable feedback from this program.

We are now seeking Illinois alumni ages 36-55 to participate in the second round of Illinois Alumni Insiders. To sign up please visit https://illinoisalumni.org/2016/06/17/alumni-join-illinois-alumni-insiders/. For every survey you complete, you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win prizes such as Illini apparel and merchandise, Illini Visa gift cards and more.

Would you please consider signing up to participate in this program? I promise the surveys are quick, fun and easy. As importantly, please feel free to share this information with other alumni you know who may be interested.

Thank you in advance for your help and participation.

Best regards,

Bill

ATO Gamma Zeta Private Equity Networking Lunch

Hello Gamma Zetas,

Private equity firms raised nearly $300 billion in new funds during 2015 and they did it again in 2016.  That means that there are huge opportunities in this space.  Whether you are directly involved in a Private Equity firm, in a financial services, accounting or consulting firm that works with PE, own or are an executive in a mid market business or division of a large business that may have an interest in PE investment or otherwise have a career interest somewhere in this world you should be interested.

We have Gamma Zetas serving in leadership roles throughout this network.   We’ve formed an esteemed panel to discuss and share how we can all help each other succeed and prosper by taking advantage of this Private Equity opportunity at our next ATO Gamma Zeta Networking lunch on March 3.  Here’s the panel:

Patrick Jensen ’98 – Partner, Prairie Capital
Jeff Piper ’00 – Managing Director, Svoboda Capital
Dan Barry ’84 – Senior Managing Director, Antares Capital
Dave Lundstedt ’75 – former CEO, Armored AutoGroup Inc. (been CEO of at least 3 different PE portfolio companies)

Moderator
Mike Barrett ’80 – PE Practice Director, Patina Solutions (30 years in PE with Mesirow)

If you fall into one of those groups mentioned above with a very specific interest in Private Equity or… you are just interested in reconnecting with old ATO friends and meeting new ones, please join us for the ATO Gamma Zeta Private Equity Networking Lunch:

Date:           Friday, March 3

Steven Ogden ’13 wins Fall 2016 Last Tau Standing NFL Survivor Pool!

Congrats to Steven Ogden ’13, winner of the Fall 2016 Last Tau Standing NFL Survivor Pool! He’ll get his name on the trophy which we display at the chapter house and a cool $850 winner’s share of the pool. He beat out Eddie McElroy ’78 in a close finish that went right up to the 17th week of the season and Frank Kulze ’75 who got knocked out in week 14. Thanks to all who participated as we raised another $850 or so for the annual fund!

Gamma Zetas to lead effort to pack 100,000 meals for needy children at Armory on September 25

mobilepackOn Sunday, September 25th, the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega will be hosting a new signature event.  I’m excited to tell you about it and would like to invite you to participate with us.

Feed My Starving Children, a hunger relief organization, will be coming down to Champaign-Urbana to help us host a “MobilePak” event. During this event, over 100,000 meals will be packed for children in need. The event will be taking place at the Armory on campus, and involve nearly 500 people. The bulk of the volunteers are other Greek organizations on campus, along with other groups in the C-U area.

Our work on this event started over a year ago.  We raised most of the money which was needed to sponsor this event over Dad’s and Mom’s weekends during the 2015-2016 school year. With the help of other fraternities/sororities and your generous support, we will be able to fund the $22,000 event. Not only will this event be important in improving the name of Alpha Tau Omega, but also change the lives of so many kids.

If you would like to donate or participate, the link below will allow you to do so. There are times available all day Sunday the 25th that you can formally sign up to help through the link below or you can just stop by, pitch in or cheer us on any time you’d like.  Of course, donations directly to Feed My Starving Children will be welcomed as well and can also be done via the link below.  Thank you for your support.
