This coming Saturday, October 3 we’ll be honoring Bruce Capel ’65 pictured below and twenty-one additional Gold Star Gamma Zetas who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in WWI, WWI, Korea and Vietnam. The ceremony will be held at the chapter house at 1:00 PM and will be led by Rear Admiral William Masters ’65 retired. All are welcome to join us in remembering and honoring these brave young men. Please stop by the house if you’re in town!
Last Tau Standing update – 36 entries – two weekends – only 2 Taus left!! – unbelievable!! Two undergrads, Cole Kirsh ’17 and Jack Ahern ’17, playing with Bill “BB” Barry’s ’77 money are still standing. They both picked Indy for tonight… can they live to play another week and win the $1800 pot?
Joe Grazioso ’16 worked as an intern this past summer at Belmont Bank whose CEO is Bill McCarty ’79. Joe was referred to Bill by his ATO Mentor John Aymond ’80. The following is an excerpt from a note that Joe’s supervisor at the bank passed on about his experience.
“Joe has a tremendous work ethic, with great attention to detail, and routinely demonstrated a self-starter approach to his day-to-day responsibilities at the Bank.
He is a gentleman, someone who listened closely and took notes whenever a new concept was being presented to him.
The Gamma Zeta chapter of ATO is fortunate to have him as a member and I believe his commitment, dedication, and hard work sets a great example for the qualities that ATO promotes as “America’s Leadership Fraternity”, and will continue to contribute and prove beneficial to the long-term success of the House.”

Mark your calendars! Greg Wright (Gamma Zeta ’68) has a four piece Country Band called Comstock Lode which will be performing at Bub City (435 N. Clark St. Chicago) from 9:00 PM – 12:00 on Monday night October 26th. Check them out on their web site at www.comstocklodecountryband.com. We just wrapped up the 14th Annual R Gregory Swedo ’96 Foundation Golf Outing. We had over 110 golfers + a great group of volunteers. Based on our bar tab – it looks like everyone had a great time….For anyone that knew Greg, it is a must watch.

Last night, Saturday, August 8 Gamma Zetas attended the closing banquet of the 2015 ATO National Congress in Indianapolis. We’re very proud to announce that our chapter was awarded True Merit Honorable Mention status, our first True Merit mention of any kind since 2007. Earlier in the week, Gamma Zeta received Excellence Awards in Campus Involvement & Leadership Development, Communications, Recruitment and Scholarship. Outgoing Worthy Master, Jimmy Kowalczyk ’16 won the National Storm Strap Award and our Board of Trustees were recognized with the Upper Alpha Award. This is a huge step forward for our chapter and recognizes an incredible amount of work and an outstanding year for the chapter. We’ll share more about what went into these awards in upcoming newsletters but wanted to let everyone know about this recognition right away. Congrats and great work to all!!
