Ray Tiernan ’13 – 2015 Chicago Take Steps for Crohn’s And Colitis

raytBrothers,

This spring marks the 10 year observance of my diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. In celebration of my current state of health, I am asking friends and family to get together and support an organization that supports local patient programs, as well as important research projects.

Take Steps is CCFA’s national walk, the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. It is a casual 2-3 mile stroll to raise money for crucial research for Crohn’s and Colitis. Over 1.6 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases.

This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for cures! If you are unable to join me on the day of the event [May 30th, 9am, Montrose Harbor] please donate towards my team’s goal!   Here’s the link –

Charlie Caudle ’41

Throwback Thursday – The link previously posted about Joe Hagerty ‘17.5 being the “Greek Crush of the Week” reminded me of previous versions of Greek “society” columns that used to appear in the Daily Illini. For today’s “Throwback Thursday”, check out an old column from the DI called YOURSELF AND OTHERS from March 12, 1940 which includes a fun item mentioning Gamma Zeta Charlie Caudle ’41. Charlie also was the editor of another similar column called the Campus Scout.  This occurred quite a bit before my time but I do remember the buzzer systems at the sororities.  Are they still around??

Catching up with “Tau Tank” Veteran Kyle Cushing ’11

cushingLast spring Kyle Cushing ’11 was one of four ATO presenters at our “Tau Tank” networking lunch in Chicago.  He talked about his startup, ClearContract.  Here’s a quick update…

Kyle, for those who weren’t at the “Tau Tank” event, tell us a little about ClearContract and what progress you’ve made since that event?

First, thank you Dane for revitalizing the alumni community.  It has been great to get to know GZ’s from multiple eras.  For me it has led not only to multiple friendships but also a number of fruitful business relationships.

When I spoke at Tau Tank we were pre-product, pre-revenue and still very focused on solving a niche problem for a niche industry.  Now we are working with Microsoft!

In the last year we’ve launched with a number of paying customers in the financial services space and have grown our employee base by 2.5x (what I really mean by this is we have grown our team from 2 to 5 J).  Our team is currently in Seattle working with Microsoft to expand our product functionality and distribution channels.  We’re leveraging the Microsoft Office suite to make it easier for attorneys and business professionals to manage their contract negotiations, regardless of length or complexity.  Our market segments are expanding from solely focused on financial services to in-house counsel, commercial real estate, and consulting.Continue reading
