17th Annual RG Swedo Golf Outing

Hello Gamma Zetas,

Matt Massucci ’96 has asked me to forward the following about the upcoming 17th Annual RG Swedo Golf Outing.  This is an awesome event to recognize and remember Gamma Zeta Greg Swedo ’96 who was tragically killed in a hit and run accident in 2000.  Money raised goes to scholarships  from Greg’s high school, Fremd to attend the University of Illinois.  The top ATO Foursome at the event each year is recognized on the Heldman Trophy which is displayed at the chapter house.

Mark your calendars now and register for this year’s event!

17th Annual RGS Golf Outing

I’ve heard rumors that a very confident foursome of GZ’s from Springfield plan to raid the event this year and take away the hardware.  Get your group together today and give them a run for their money!

Contact Matt Massucci directly at matt@hirewell.com if you have any questions.

Thanks!!

Make it a double header Illini/ATO Golf weekend!

Peter Korst ’76 asked me to share the following about another great golf opportunity for Illini fans – FRIDAY – AUGUST 11th, 2017 – DEERFIELD GOLF CLUB

Dane, I am a member of the University Illinois Department of Recreation, Sports and Tourism Alumni Advisory Board. There is a golf outing fund raiser that supports scholarships for students in that department that I think some of guys may be interested in considering. The outing features Illini sports greats as the main attraction with whom you golf and interact. It is a pretty impressive lineup. I am asking if you might send this notification to the distribution list.

Here is the link to the event site where people can learn more about the Illini celebs who will be there, how they can sign up to participate and opportunities to sponsor if they are interested.

Register for the 16th Annual RG Swedo Golf Outing Today!

Registration is open for the 16th Annual R Gregory Swedo Golf Outing – please start signing up for this year’s outing. For the 3rd straight year, we’ll award the Matt Heldman Trophy to the ATO team with the lowest score. Note – reduced price for ATO’s under 30 ($75).

ATO Gamma Zeta Private Equity Networking Lunch

Hello Gamma Zetas,

Private equity firms raised nearly $300 billion in new funds during 2015 and they did it again in 2016.  That means that there are huge opportunities in this space.  Whether you are directly involved in a Private Equity firm, in a financial services, accounting or consulting firm that works with PE, own or are an executive in a mid market business or division of a large business that may have an interest in PE investment or otherwise have a career interest somewhere in this world you should be interested.

We have Gamma Zetas serving in leadership roles throughout this network.   We’ve formed an esteemed panel to discuss and share how we can all help each other succeed and prosper by taking advantage of this Private Equity opportunity at our next ATO Gamma Zeta Networking lunch on March 3.  Here’s the panel:

Moderator
Mike Barrett ’80 – PE Practice Director, Patina Solutions (30 years in PE with Mesirow)

Gamma Zeta’s Sports Illustrated “Cover” 1/22/79 – see entire first row to right of scorers table

That’s what we got to hear about at the “Tau Madness” Kick-off luncheon yesterday at the Highline Bar in Chicago from Neil Bresnahan ’80 and Doug Altenberger ’87 who described first hand experiences going at it with two of the greatest basketball players of all time.  We also heard some great Lou Henson stories including the obligatory “Lou Doo” reference and many more.  Twenty-five Gamma Zeta’s attended the lunch.  You’re going to have to attend these luncheons in person to get all of the details but here are some of the highlights…

Craig Nadborne kicked off the meeting with some interesting trivia about how ATO Gamma Zeta has been intertwined with Illini basketball for over 75 years.  For example… Continue reading
